It takes around 10 to 15 days to get GRE Scores.

In this post we will answer the question How Long Does It Take To Get GRE Scores?

What is GRE?

GRE is the test for admission for all graduate programs. In general, students will take this exam after they have completed a minimum of two years of post-secondary studies and have earned at least a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent, as assessed by the relevant university.

There are many programs that are not eligible for direct admission to school; you may still be able to enter or work around these restrictions by qualifying via the GRE.

You can find out more about these programs by visiting our article on the Master’s Degrees that are not compatible with the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). All schools and colleges mentioned on BLET frequently accept GRE scores as part of their admissions requirements.

How Long Does It Take To Get GRE Scores?

You may have taken the GRE, but now you want to know how long it takes for your scores to become available.

The GRE is all about standardized testing, and that means that once you complete your test it can take up to 10-15 days before your scores are updated on the ETS website. Once they’re updated on their site, they’ll be sent out to any schools/colleges you’ve selected for score reporting purposes- minus the ones who decline or don’t accept unsolicited reports. You can check their website for more specific information.

If you’re not going to use your GRE scores to apply for grad school right away, then you can choose to have your scores held and released later by clicking the link in the confirmation email they send after you take the test.

If you do match with a school that is interested in seeing your GRE scores, make sure that they will accept them before sending them. Some schools- especially those in the UK- require that students have either taken the exam within two years of applying or else be able to submit a score report from ETS.

What is the format of GRE Test?

Usually, the GRE test has the following formats:

  • The verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning sections each take 35 minutes and can be done in any order.
  • The writing sample is provided at the end of this section and takes 20 minutes to complete. You cannot use a calculator on this section. Your score is marked on a scaled 200-800 point system.
  • The analytical writing measure consists of two parts: Issue task (2 hours 30 minutes) and Argument task (30 minutes). You must devote 2 hours to each task separately in any order you would like within these time limits; however, we recommend you do them in this sequence: issue followed by argument.

What is GRE Grading Procedure?

The total time of the test will be around three hours, 45 minutes. Breaks are also part of the duration. There is only a one-minute break between sections. After three sections, there’s an interval of 10 minutes.

The process of grading is common and follows a particular structure for marking. The final score is an amalgamation of scores obtained throughout the various sections. When the test is completed the test taker can opt to see the results immediately. Sections such as Quantitative reasoning and the verbal part are scored immediately. Candidates can check their non-official score after the test.

After the Analytical scores have been taken into account scores are added to the other sections. Then, the full results are sent out to the institution which a candidate selects. The candidate will also get the results in the span of 10 to 15 business days after trying the tests. The test taker will be sent an email informing him of his results.

Conclusion

If you are wondering How Long Does It Take To Get GRE Scores, the correct answer is 10 to 15 days.

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a test that is used worldwide by graduate schools to help them assess your readiness for graduate programs.
